Chapter 1 Dear journal, Its me Piggy, something tragic has happened. Me and all the other boys from school were in a plane crash. We're stranded on and island with no adults to help us survive. I've met this one boy named Ralph I told him he can call me anything except Piggy because that's what they used to call me at school and I hated it! He started laughing at me and calling me Piggy. I really hate that name. After getting to know Ralph he isn't a bad kid after all I kind of like him. He came up with a plan to gather all us boys with his conch and it worked. I really wish I wasn't on this island with them, they make fun of my asthma and weight and barely let me talk, why does it always have to be this way? Conch shell Tuesday, March 28, 2017 The conch shell symbolizes civilization and fairness. The conch is important because without it the children wouldn’t've established the authority they have also because it keeps the assemblies fair. Ralph is the main user of the conch. It is used when something goes wrong or Ralph feels like there should be a group discussion about something, also when someone is speaking and they do not want to be interrupted. The conch is blown into, to make a loud noise to catch everyone's attention and gather them in a group.
William Golding was affected by being a part of D-day because of the trauma he experienced. Golding was lucky enough to survive even though most of his friends were killed. I think Golding questioned the goodness of mankind because they were at war. If mankind were all good there would have been no need for war. He wouldn't have been fighting for the Jews to be freed if mankind were good because they would have never been captured to begin with. I think mankind is born with goodness but their environment is was makes them develop barbaric behavior. I think this because I believe it is impossible for a new born baby is born with selfishness and the ability to be evil because children are born with innocence they don't know any better than what they are taught.
