symbol
     Face paint is used as a symbol in this story. The face pain represents savagery, it masks the humanity of the boys. The face paint changes the boys from school boys to savages. An example is before jack put on the face paint he was a little afraid of the pig blood, but after painting his face he wasn't worried at all.
     The fire symbolizes hope of going home or being spotted by a ship. The hope symbolized by the fire changes when it goes out. The boys lost all hope when the fire went out the first time because Piggy and Ralph saw a passing ship and as the ship passed the fire went out so they were not spotted or rescued.
     The beast in the story symbolizes fear. The boy make up a figure of a beast and I think they do this to shield the actual fact that they are afraid of being on the island alone with out any adults. The littlun's are the only ones who can actually admit they believe there is an actual beastie but the older boys like Ralph, Jack, Simon, and Piggy completely ignore what the littlun's have told them to make it seem like they aren't scared.

chapter 3 huts on the beach      I got to lazy to continue to help build the shelter or do anything really, so I decided to sit back and watch everyone. I know getting lazy isn't a real excuse to stop helping but its what did. I don't know about this Jack is becoming obsessed with hunting and Ralph is frustrated.      There is a lack of work but its hard to work when there is so much disagreement. How can I tell the boys how I feel with out them laughing or brushing me off? Like about the Beastie I know they don't believe but I can feel one of what ever it is presence and it makes me quezzy.      William Golding was affected by being a part of D-day because   of the trauma he experienced. Golding was lucky enough to survive even though most of his friends were killed. I think Golding questioned the goodness of mankind because they were at war. If mankind were all good there would have been no need for war. He wouldn't have been fighting for the Jews to be freed if mankind were good because they would have never been captured to begin with.      I think mankind is born with goodness   but their environment is was makes them develop barbaric behavior. I think this because I believe it is impossible for a new born baby is born with selfishness and the ability to be evil because children are born with innocence they don't know any better than what they are taught.

Chapter 1 Dear journal, Its me Piggy, something tragic has happened.     Me and all the other boys from school were in a plane crash. We're stranded on and island with no adults to help us survive. I've met this one boy named Ralph I told him he can call me anything except Piggy because that's what they used to call me at school and I hated it! He started laughing at me and calling me Piggy.
